Services Provided


Welcome to Waldo County General Hospital's Speech Language Pathology department. We provide high quality evaluations, consultations and therapy for speech, language, voice and communication disorders. We offer therapy in a variety of settings, including our hospital, and clinic, extended care facilities, homes and through telepractice.

Services for adults include:
  • Diagnosis and treatment of swallowing difficulties using Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and clinical swallow assessments;
  • Evaluation and treatment of Vocal Cord Dysfunction/Paradoxical Vocal Fold Movement and Irritable Larynx Syndrome (ILS)/Chronic Cough. Click here to see a brief video about ILS.
  • Therapy for speech problems caused by strokes and other neurological injuries.
  • Matching both low and high-tech computer communication systems with patients needing support in daily communication activities.
All of the services are provided by involving family members actively. Therapists spend offering effective strategies to help individuals become knowledgeable and independent communicators.
